These hose types are used to remove air, smoke, abrasive dust, swarf and hot particles. The profile geometry has been designed to ensure a high degree of flexibility and the insertion of additional metal threads or fibres during the winding process improves the air tightness characteristics of the hose.

Discharge hoses are used for handling coarse or fine grained materials such as sugar or agricultural grains, and industrial pollutants such as smoke or soot. Hoses for these applications are made from galvanized steel or from stainless steel when it is crucial that no chemical reaction occurs between the hose and the material being transported such as in the food industry.
